Sennheiser is launching a new premium headphone, the Momentum 5 Wireless. This model follows the Momentum 4 and sets new standards, particularly in sustainability. The biggest innovation is not in the design or drivers but inside the over-ears. For the first time, Sennheiser includes a battery that users can replace themselves.

Visually, the company remains true to itself. Large ear cups and a rather simple design continue to characterize the appearance of the headphones. The predecessor already impressed with good sound quality and long battery life. With the new model, Sennheiser aims to further enhance these features.

Replaceable Battery Aims to Reduce Electronic Waste

The integrated battery has a capacity of 700 milliamp hours. Users can replace the module themselves when performance declines, instead of having to replace the entire headphones. This approach is still relatively rare in the premium segment.

With the replaceable battery, the Momentum 5 Wireless stands out from many competing models. Sennheiser is thus focusing more on sustainability and longer device usage.

More on the topic

Hi-Res Audio and aptX Lossless Integrated

Technically, Sennheiser sticks with the familiar 42-millimeter drivers. However, new features such as Hi-Res Audio and aptX Lossless have been added. According to the manufacturer, this should enable CD-level audio quality with 16-bit and 44.1 kHz.

The maximum sound quality only works with compatible devices that support Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound platform. These include certain smartphones from Sony and Motorola. Models from Samsung, Google, and Apple do not currently support the technology.

Additionally, the Momentum 5 Wireless supports Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio with head tracking. This is intended to create a more spatial sound experience.

Sennheiser Improves Noise-Cancelling

Sennheiser has also enhanced active noise-cancelling. Four microphones are used per ear side. These are designed to suppress ambient noises such as voices or airplane noise more effectively than previous products from the manufacturer.

Sennheiser states the battery life is up to 57 hours. While this is slightly less than the predecessor, it remains at a high level.

The Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless will be available on June 30, 2026. The headphones are offered in black, white, and “denim blue.” The price is 399.99 euros.
