In the Aldi Talk online shop, the discount retailer is now offering a bundle of the Motorola Moto G35 and Moto Buds for 115 euros. The offer runs until September 7 and includes 10 euros of Aldi Talk starting credit–but is it worth the purchase?

Moto G35 with 5G and Large Screen

5G has now reached even the lowest price bracket: The Moto G35 thus offers budget-conscious customers a fast internet connection. For browsing, there is a 6.72-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 by 2400 pixels (FHD+). For a device in this price range, the display has a decent brightness of up to 1000 nits and even comes with a refresh rate of 120 hertz. Despite its size (166.29 × 75.98 × 7.79 mm), it is relatively light at 188 grams. The plastic casing contributes to the low weight, as the screen is at least protected with genuine Gorilla Glass 3. According to Motorola, the display can also be operated when wet. Although the device does not have an IP rating, the manufacturer does claim a “water-repellent design.”

Motorola Promises Android Updates

Android 14 is pre-installed as the operating system. Unlike many other smartphone manufacturers, Motorola still does not offer a long-term promise for version updates. Only security updates are guaranteed for three years. At least, according to the support page, the Moto G35 is expected to receive Android 15. Additionally, the company must provide functional and security updates for models sold in the EU for up to seven years. Under the hood, the Unisoc T760 runs with eight CPU cores and is manufactured using a 6-nanometer process. It comes with 4 gigabytes of RAM and 128 GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 1 TB via microSD.

Nice Extras for the Price Range

The rear camera system includes a 50-MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8-MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The main camera records videos in up to 4K resolution at 30 fps. Selfies are taken with a 16-MP front camera. In terms of audio and connectivity, a lot is included for the price range: stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, FM radio, two microphones, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, and dual-SIM (physical and eSIM). A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is responsible for security. The 5000 mAh battery is charged via USB-C. However, the port only supports USB 2.0, so transferring larger files may take some time.

The Motorola Moto G35 with Moto Buds in Price Comparison

With the bundle price of 115 euros, the Moto G35 at Aldi Talk is significantly below the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of 179.99 euros. Customers can get the smartphone alone from shops like Amazon for just under 100 euros–but without the headphones. The Moto Buds alone cost around 30 euros. Even without considering the 10 euros starting credit included in the Aldi Talk deal, the offer is significantly below the current market price for the individual devices.

Not Built for the Future

If you need a cheap smartphone quickly that doesn’t need to do much beyond internet browsing, emails, social media, and messaging, you can safely go for the Moto G35. It’s also not a bad choice as an entry-level smartphone for kids. However, buyers need to be aware that the device is not built for the future. Due to the small amount of RAM and the lackluster software support promise, the Moto G35 could become obsolete in two to three years.

Like many inexpensive Android smartphones, the Moto G35 does have the option to “expand” the RAM. The smartphone moves less frequently used data from the RAM to internal storage to make room for more urgent data. However, this means that data from internal storage takes significantly longer to load when needed. In 2025, 4 GB is simply too little for many apps. The “RAM-Boost” solution is just window dressing, as RAM cannot be “boosted” so easily–you either have the memory or you don’t.
