The story of the Banks family could continue. Although “Bel-Air” ended after four seasons, the streaming service Peacock is reportedly working on a new series from the show’s universe. This time, the focus is on Hilary Banks.
“Bel-Air” launched in 2022 as a dramatic reimagining of the sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Unlike the original, the series focused on more serious themes and a significantly more realistic narrative style. The fourth and final season aired at the end of 2025.

According to the industry magazine “Deadline,” the spin-off has the tentative title “Hilary.” Actress Coco Jones, who played Hilary in all four seasons of “Bel-Air,” is set to take the lead role. The planned storyline will take the character to New York, where Hilary accepts an unexpected job offer from celebrity chef Yvonne Durand.
In the metropolis, she aims to build her own reputation, independent of her family name and connections from Bel-Air. She will face not only professional challenges but also friendships and relationships that play a significant role.

Familiar Names Are Involved
Tracy Oliver is set to be responsible for the scripts and creative direction. She was previously involved in projects such as “Girls Trip,” “Harlem,” and “First Wives Club.” According to reports, the project is backed once again by Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Universal Television, which already produced “Bel-Air.” Coco Jones is also expected to serve as an executive producer this time.

On IMDb, “Bel-Air” currently has a rating of 6.4 points. The individual episodes were mostly rated between 7 and 8 points. The potential development of a spin-off shows that Peacock still considers the franchise valuable.
No Details Known Yet
Whether the series will actually be produced is currently uncertain. The project is currently in the development phase. Peacock has neither officially ordered a season nor announced a release date. If the project gets the green light, it would be the first spin-off of a fictional Peacock original series.
Also interesting is the parallel to the original sitcom. Already in the finale of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Hilary Banks moved to New York. The new project would revisit this idea in a different form.
