More than ten years after the end of “The Office,” fans have a real reason to be excited again. The cult series is being released as a new complete edition with more than 25 hours of additional material. While these aren’t new episodes, the release is likely to be of interest, especially to longtime fans.

Extended Episodes Instead of New Ones

Those hoping for completely new adventures from Michael Scott, Jim, Pam, or Dwight will need to temper their expectations. The more than 25 hours of additional material do not consist of new episodes. Instead, deleted scenes, alternative takes, and additional dialogues from the archives have been integrated into the existing episodes.

The additional scenes come from the original filming but were cut from the TV broadcast. According to NBCUniversal, they offer “never-before-seen material” as well as newly assembled scenes.

The new content is spread across all seasons. Previously, 100 episodes were available on the U.S. streaming service Peacock as so-called Superfan versions with additional scenes. The new complete release has now expanded this offering to 194 episodes. Since “The Office” comprises a total of 201 episodes across its nine seasons, it is assumed that the episodes already available on Peacock will be part of the new collection. This means there are 94 episodes with previously unreleased material.

Why Fans Can Still Be Excited

Even though the addition doesn’t consist of newly produced material, the release is likely to be exciting for many fans. “The Office” is one of those series that many viewers watch repeatedly over the years. Even short additional dialogues or previously unknown scenes can cast familiar episodes in a new light.

The documentary style of the series particularly benefits from this. Often, multiple versions of a scene were shot or improvised dialogues were recorded. Many of these moments didn’t make it into the final cut at the time, even though they underscore the series’ typical humor. Through the extended versions, they now find their way into the series.

An Unusual Release

It’s rather rare for a completed series to be reworked to this extent many years after its end. Individual deleted scenes or bonus material on DVDs are nothing new. However, incorporating more than 25 hours of additional material directly into the episodes is quite uncommon.

Of course, this doesn’t replace a new season or a continuation. Nevertheless, the collection is likely to be the most comprehensive opportunity for many fans to experience the cult series once again with fresh scenes and additional moments.

When and Where?

The complete collection will be released on July 14, 2026, initially in the U.S. Digitally, fans can purchase or rent the extended episodes through Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube. Those who prefer to have the series on their shelf can also opt for a physical complete box. However, this is not regularly available in Germany. Currently, it can only be imported via Amazon.com. In addition to the relatively high shipping costs, customs and other fees also apply. Whether the extended version will also be officially released in Germany or be available on local streaming services is not yet known.
