Xiaomi is working on improving the connection between Android and iOS devices. To achieve this, the manufacturer is expanding its HyperOS 3 operating system with a feature designed to simplify file sharing with Apple devices. In the future, users will be able to send content from compatible Xiaomi smartphones to iPhones via Quick Share. However, the new feature will not be available for all devices.

Xiaomi Demonstrates New Feature

Google aims to further enhance collaboration between Android and iOS. In this context, additional manufacturers are expected to support existing compatibility with AirDrop. Xiaomi is joining this development by integrating the feature into HyperOS 3.

The manufacturer has now confirmed that AirDrop transfers will be possible on selected Xiaomi devices. This is intended to make file sharing between the two platforms significantly easier.

Demonstration on a Xiaomi Smartphone

According to the online magazine “Android Headlines,” Xiaomi has already publicly showcased the new feature. In a video released on X, the company demonstrates file transfer on a Xiaomi 17T Pro. The video shows how content is transferred between a Xiaomi smartphone and an Apple device using Quick Share.

According to the manufacturer, support will not be limited to a single model. Instead, the plan is to gradually expand the feature to more devices with HyperOS 3.

With HyperOS 3, Xiaomi is fundamentally pursuing its own approach. While the operating system is still based on Android, the company continues to develop it independently in many areas. It serves as the foundation for the entire Xiaomi ecosystem, ranging from smartphones to cars.

Despite this orientation, Xiaomi apparently values a closer connection with Apple’s AirDrop service. The integration of the new feature is intended to make it easier for users to exchange files between the two platforms.

Not All Smartphones Will Be Supported

Xiaomi has also announced which devices will receive the new AirDrop compatibility. For current flagship models, the update distribution is expected in the coming days.

Older smartphones and more affordable model series, however, will not receive the feature. Xiaomi cites a lack of necessary hardware requirements for supporting the new AirDrop compatibility as the reason.
