Xiaomi has new developments regarding a smartphone that can be unfolded like a book. The manufacturer might be preparing such a model for 2026. Whether it will continue under the well-known Mix Fold series is uncertain. Another name circulating in the rumor mill is Xiaomi 17 Fold. This designation has not been officially confirmed yet.
The information comes from a report by the online magazine Gizmochina. It mentions entries in Xiaomi’s code database. The device is internally referred to as “Q18.” The project name is “Lhasa.” This matches the model number “2608BPX34C,” which is said to have been previously discovered in the IMEI database.
What the Code Suggests
Several clues can be derived from the model number. At Xiaomi, the first four digits often indicate the end of a development phase or the earliest possible month of a presentation. The combination 2608 suggests a period after August 2026. The letter at the end also indicates that China is initially intended.
The middle part of the number is particularly important. It contains the sequence BPX. Previous Xiaomi foldables also used an identifier with PX. Therefore, it is likely that this model is a device with a foldable display. The report compares it to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, which is internally designated as 2405CPX3DC.

Xring O3 Possible for China
There is also a hint about the processor. In China, Xiaomi might use the new Xring O3 in the foldable. This would be the manufacturer’s own chip and the successor to the Xring O1, which was in the Xiaomi 15S Pro in 2025, although it was not sold in Germany.
Whether the potential Xiaomi 17 Fold will come to Europe remains uncertain. If Xiaomi plans a launch outside China, the hardware could differ. So far, Qualcomm and MediaTek are mentioned as possible chip suppliers. However, this is not confirmed. Currently, it remains with database traces, rumors about the name, and hints of a possible period after August 2026.
