Samsung may soon expand its Fold smartphone line with a model featuring altered proportions. There have been hints and rumors about this for some time. However, what the device might actually look like has remained unclear. Now, a video has surfaced for the first time showing a dummy of the potential smartphone. The mock-up provides an initial impression of the direction Samsung might take with its Fold series.
Video Shows Possible Device Structure
The video was released by leaker Sonny Dickson on X. Such dummies are generally used to replicate the form and approximate dimensions of a device not yet introduced. They do not provide insights into software, performance, or camera quality.
Nevertheless, the footage reveals a striking detail. The shown Fold model appears significantly wider than previous devices in the Galaxy Z Fold series. This offers a concrete impression of the altered proportions that had previously been mostly speculative.
More Space on the Outer Display
Especially when closed, the new format could offer advantages. The wider casing would also provide more area for the outer display. Many everyday tasks could be handled more comfortably as a result.
This includes tasks such as writing messages, reading websites, or opening apps. Users might need to unfold the device less frequently. The change might be less noticeable on the large inner display. Although the proportions would also change there, according to current indications, it would likely have a lesser impact on usability.
Exceptionally Slim Casing Possible
Besides the wider format, another feature stands out in the video. The dummy appears exceptionally thin. Sonny Dickson even describes the device in the video description as “incredibly thin.”

When folded, the model is supposed to appear as slim as a Galaxy S25 Edge. According to Samsung, this device measures only 5.8 millimeters. If the impression from the video is confirmed, it would be remarkable for a foldable smartphone. After all, the hinge, inner display, and two casing halves must also be accommodated.

Rumors Mention Larger Battery
Visually, Samsung seems to be avoiding major experiments with the potential new model. The camera remains vertically positioned on the back. The frame also appears angular, and the hinge remains visible.
More intriguing are the technical speculations. According to the online magazine “Android Headlines,” Samsung might install a battery with 5,000 milliampere-hours. Also under discussion are an ultra-wide-angle camera with 50 megapixels and a charging capacity of 45 watts. This would be a significant increase from the previous limit of 25 watts. However, the model would still not reach the 60 watts of the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Presentation Likely in July 2026
It is still unclear how Samsung will position the next Fold generation. Currently, much suggests that the wider device could be released as the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The previous, narrower design might be offered as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
More clarity is expected by July 22, 2026. Samsung’s next Unpacked event in London is anticipated for this date. If the shown design proves true, Samsung could respond early to potential competition. Apple’s expected iPhone Ultra, which is also associated with a wider outer display, is considered a possible rival.
