A brief moment of inattention can be particularly costly with the iPhone Duo. If Apple’s first foldable iPhone falls to the ground and sustains significant damage, repairs can cost up to 1,719 euros. This maximum repair price even exceeds the cost of a new iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max.
In 2026, Apple increased the prices of its Pro models. Prices start at 1,449 euros for the iPhone 18 Pro and 1,599 euros for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. A comprehensive repair of the iPhone Duo can therefore cost up to 1,719 euros, significantly more. The only exceptions are Pro iPhones with storage upgrades, which can push the purchase price over 2,000 euros.
How expensive are repairs on the iPhone Duo
The potential costs are highlighted by a comparison with other top models. In addition to individual repairs such as the display, battery, or camera, Apple also lists the category “other damage.” For the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, this costs 1,059 euros each.
Battery replacement is also expensive: Apple charges 269 euros for a new battery for the iPhone Duo. For the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, the replacement costs 149 euros each. However, the Duo’s battery cells are distributed across both halves of the device, making the repair significantly more complicated.

Inner display costs more than 1,100 euros
It becomes even more expensive if the inner screen of the iPhone Duo breaks. According to the repair calculator, Apple charges 1,149 euros for the replacement. A comparison with Samsung shows a significant price difference: For the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, replacing the entire inner display unit costs 688 euros according to Samsung’s Smart Repair Configurator. This makes the repair 461 euros cheaper than for the iPhone Duo.

Why Apple charges significantly more for the inner display remains unclear. The so-called nanotexture might play a role. This special coating makes the screen matte, reduces reflections, and is supposed to protect against damage with increased durability. However, replacing the coating separately costs only 55 euros.
AppleCare+ reduces costs in case of damage
Repair costs are significantly lower with AppleCare+. For the iPhone Duo, the version including theft and loss protection costs 20.99 euros per month or 209.99 euros per year. The coverage also includes accidental damage, such as from a fall or liquid.
Instead of the regular repair prices, customers then pay a deductible. For the outer screen and back glass of the iPhone Duo, 29 euros are due each. For damage to the inner display, Apple charges 99 euros. Apple replaces a battery at no additional cost once it falls below 80 percent of its original capacity.
