Fritz! (formerly AVM) has released new software for a total of ten Fritzbox models. The focus is on a maintenance update for the Fritzbox 7510. The new version Fritz!OS 8.26 fixes a bug that could significantly reduce the speed of DSL connections under certain circumstances. In parallel, nine other routers are receiving the update to Fritz!OS 8.25 with new features for home networks, NAS, and parental controls, as well as numerous bug fixes.
Fritzbox 7510 Receives Important Bug Fix
Fritz! is already distributing the update to Fritz!OS 8.26 for the Fritzbox 7510. According to the manufacturer, it could occur in certain DSL configurations that the internet throughput was severely limited. In some cases, data rates of up to only 10 Mbps were possible over DSL connections. The update addresses this issue and also improves system stability.
Fritz!OS 8.25 for Nine More Routers
In addition to the Fritzbox 7510, many other models are receiving new firmware. After some Fritzboxes previously received the update to Fritz!OS 8.25, it is now available for the following devices:

- Fritzbox 7632
- Fritzbox 7630
- Fritzbox 4690
- Fritzbox 4060
- Fritzbox 6860 5G
- Fritzbox 6850 5G
- Fritzbox 6850 LTE
- Fritzbox 6825 LTE

New Online Monitor and Mesh Network Improvements
Among the most important innovations of Fritz!OS 8.25 is a revised online monitor. This displays the data usage of individual devices in the home network more clearly and shows which devices are using a lot of bandwidth.
Additionally, Fritz! has improved the mesh function. If users have multiple Fritz! devices like routers and repeaters, they will now automatically select the optimal connection type. This is intended to increase the stability of the home network and reduce Wi-Fi outages.
Fritz!NAS and Parental Controls Get New Features
Fritz!NAS has also been expanded. Users can now share folders more easily via share link, allowing them to exchange files with others. This feature is suitable for sharing photos or documents without relying on external cloud services.
There are also improvements in parental controls. Access profiles and associated devices are displayed more clearly, making it easier to manage internet access and usage times.

Other Innovations and Bug Fixes
With Fritz!OS 8.25, the manufacturer is also introducing the “Fritz! Failsafe” feature. It can automatically switch to an available backup connection, such as via mobile, in the event of a regular internet connection failure. Additionally, the Energy-Efficient Ethernet function can now be configured separately for WAN and LAN connections to reduce the router’s energy consumption.
Another focus of the update is on fixing known issues. According to the manufacturer, problems with the registration of Wi-Fi 7 devices, restrictions on channel bandwidth in the 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and various errors in the online monitor, home network management, and parental controls have been resolved.

How to Install the Update
The installation is done via the user interface of the respective Fritzbox. Owners of a supported model can check there if the new firmware is already available. During the update, the internet or Wi-Fi connection may be temporarily interrupted. Those who have automatic updates enabled will usually receive the new version without further action. Since the distribution is gradual, availability may vary depending on the device.
