The Disney Channel will get a new name at the end of 2026. Starting December 1, the free-to-air channel will be known as Disney TV. Along with the renaming, Disney is also making comprehensive adjustments to its programming. In the future, the channel aims to appeal to additional target groups beyond families and children. To achieve this, the company is focusing more on content from various areas of its own corporation.
Free Channel Remains Available to Families
Even after the relaunch, Disney TV will remain free and accessible. The company is sticking to its existing offerings for children and families. Viewers will continue to enjoy familiar movies and shows from the Disney universe.
At the same time, Disney is expanding its programming for adults. In addition to classic series and films, the lineup will soon include action and crime formats as well as selected documentaries. This will make the channel’s selection broader than before.

Disney Restructures Daily Schedule
With the new name, the programming schedule is also changing. Between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and again from 5 p.m., Disney TV will primarily feature drama and comedy series. The channel has clear programming focuses for these time slots.

Familiar Brands to Get Regular Time Slots
Especially in the evening, Disney plans to focus more on well-known brands from its own corporation. Regular programming blocks are planned with series from “FX,” productions from “Marvel Studios,” and content from the “Star Wars” universe.
According to the company’s plans, these brands will have dedicated programming slots on specific weekdays. However, Disney has not yet announced which days are planned for this.
