Just last year, DHL raised its package prices. Exactly one year later, the next increase follows. TECHBOOK reveals which packages and services customers will have to pay more for starting in July 2023.
Whether it’s wages, infrastructure costs, or electricity and gasoline–rising prices are also affecting DHL. Exactly one year after the last major price increase, the parcel service provider is raising the costs for its services again. Customers will have to pay up to 100 percent more for certain packages in the future. However, there are a few exceptions where it will be cheaper.
Overview
Costs for Domestic Packages Starting in July
The current price increase at DHL affects both domestic and international deliveries. Customers will also have to pay more for services such as cash on delivery or age verification starting in July.
Within Germany, the DHL price increase mainly affects heavy packages. For deliveries up to 10 kilograms, the service provider will charge one euro more, totaling 10.49 euros. Particularly heavy goods up to 31.95 kilograms will cost 19.99 euros instead of 16.49 euros. If you want to additionally protect your shipment with transport insurance, you will pay 6.99 euros for goods worth up to 2,500 euros (previously 6 euros) or 19.99 euros for goods worth up to 25,000 euros (previously 18 euros) starting in July. For bulky goods, DHL will charge 28.99 euros instead of 26.78 euros, and rolled goods can be sent for 1.99 euros instead of 1.79 euros.
If payment for a delivery is made by cash on delivery, it will cost 8.99 euros starting in July, instead of the previous 6.90 euros. If the recipient’s age also needs to be verified, customers will have to pay 1.99 euros instead of the previous 1.19 euros. That’s an increase of a hefty 60 percent.

Significant Price Increase for International DHL Packages
Increases of up to 60 percent for domestic deliveries are already substantial. The price increase is even more noticeable for international packages sent via DHL.
Within the EU, DHL charges between 50 cents and 3.50 euros more for a package, depending on the weight of the delivery. Outside the EU, the company divides into country zones, where some shipments even become slightly cheaper. For example, customers save one euro on a package up to 5 kilograms to Switzerland, the UK, or Ireland if they have it franked at the branch (29.99 euros instead of 30.99 euros). Generally, however, customers have to pay more, with the price increase for DHL packages usually ranging between 1 and 3 euros. You can find the complete list of all DHL prices here.
The current DHL price increase is particularly noticeable for packages destined for Australia or Oceania. Due to the distance, deliveries to these countries have always been quite expensive, but now the costs are rising significantly again. Customers who previously paid 132.99 euros for packages up to 31.5 kilograms at the branch will have to pay a whopping 266.99 euros starting in July–a 100 percent increase. But even regular packages, such as those up to 10 kilograms, are significantly more expensive than before. Customers will have to pay 92.99 euros instead of 63.99 euros, an increase of 45 percent.
Money-Saving Tip: Buy Package Stamps in Advance
The price increase will take effect in July 2023, as mentioned. Until then, DHL will offer services at the usual costs. So if you plan to send packages whose prices will soon increase, you can still buy the stamps at the old price until the end of July. The company offers so-called savings sets with 3 to 10 package stamps for online franking. They come in the form of codes to the customer, which can then be redeemed, for example, in the “Post & DHL” app. The codes are valid for three years and remain valid even after the price increase.
