Lidl is revamping its digital loyalty program and launching a new points system starting in June. Users of the Lidl Plus app will be able to collect points with every purchase and later exchange them for various benefits. The previous system with time-limited collection campaigns will be replaced.
According to Lidl, the new rewards section includes more than 200 different offers. These include everyday products, vouchers, and discounts for the Lidl online shop. Existing features such as exclusive coupons or personalized discount promotions will remain part of the app.
Store and Online Shop United
The collection principle is based on the purchase value. For every euro spent, one point is credited, with partial amounts rounded up in favor of the customers. Additionally, users will receive a starting balance of 50 points when the program launches. Regular special promotions are also planned, where additional points can be collected.
New is the joint use across all sales channels. Points can be collected both in-store and online. Lidl is thus expanding the app’s role as a central platform for offers, payment functions, and digital receipts, further advancing the integration of in-store and online offerings. This also includes the remodeling of stores announced by the discounter in early May.

Lidl Focuses on Long-Term Collection
With the new model, Lidl is also significantly extending the duration of collected points. Unlike previous promotions, the monthly limit is eliminated. Points remain valid for two years from the date of purchase, allowing customers to accumulate credit over a longer period.
However, the discounter has not mentioned what will happen to points already collected or ongoing collection campaigns from the old system. The current information only indicates that the previous model with time-limited campaigns will be replaced by the new points system starting in June. New points from the upcoming system will remain valid for two years.

Criticism of Apps from Discounters and Supermarkets
Bonus programs in retail remain a focus for consumer advocates. As early as 2025, the Federation of German Consumer Organizations filed a lawsuit against the Lidl app. The organization criticized, among other things, that customers indirectly pay for discounts with their user data. The Stuttgart Higher Regional Court initially dismissed the lawsuit but allowed an appeal to the Federal Court of Justice due to its fundamental importance.
