Huawei has unveiled the next generation of its Watch Fit series in Bangkok. The new models are called Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro. Both smartwatches retain the series’ familiar angular design but are slimmer and offer brighter displays. Instead of a fundamental redesign, the manufacturer focuses on improvements in specific areas. Therefore, it’s particularly interesting to see what innovations the two models bring compared to their predecessors.

Everyday Functions for Training and Health

The Watch Fit 5 is aimed at users looking for a lightweight smartwatch for everyday use. It features more than 100 training modes and functions for measuring heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Additionally, the watch analyzes sleep and can indicate possible irregularities in heart rhythm.

Also available are a cycle calendar, mini-workouts, fall detection, and summarized health evaluations in the Huawei Health app. Huawei emphasizes that the recorded health data is for guidance only and does not replace a medical diagnosis.

In terms of size, weight, and battery life, the Watch Fit 5 remains close to the previous generation. The most visible change is the screen. The 1.82-inch AMOLED display now reaches a maximum brightness of up to 2,500 nits. The predecessor reached up to 2,000 nits. This should make the display more readable outdoors. The case is 9.5 millimeters thin. Without the strap, the smartwatch weighs about 27 grams.

Watch Fit 5 Pro Focuses on Higher-Quality Features

With the Watch Fit 5 Pro, Huawei targets users who value materials, sports functions, and more detailed evaluations. The model features a 1.92-inch AMOLED display with LTPO technology and reaches a brightness of up to 3,000 nits.

For protection, 2.5D sapphire glass is used. The bezel is made of a titanium alloy, positioning the watch closer to classic sports and premium smartwatches. Compared to the Watch Fit 4 Pro, the display grows from 1.82 to 1.92 inches. It also features an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 60 hertz. The maximum brightness remains up to 3,000 nits.

Huawei also expands the sports functions. Supported activities include trail running, cycling, golf, and free diving. Additionally, more than 17,000 golf course maps are available. The watch provides data on inclines and altitudes, as well as information on virtual performance measurement and cadence in cycling.

In the health sector, Huawei adds an ECG and pulse wave analysis with indications of possible atrial fibrillation.

Pro Version with Additional Features

The battery life of the two new models differs little. According to Huawei, up to ten days are possible with light use. For typical use, the manufacturer states up to seven days. With the always-on display activated, up to four days can be achieved.

Differences appear in charging. According to Huawei, the Watch Fit 5 takes about 75 minutes for a full charge. The Pro is said to be fully charged after about 60 minutes.

Both the Watch Fit 5 and the Watch Fit 5 Pro are now available in Germany. The Watch Fit 5 starts at 199 euros and is offered in silver, purple, green, white, and black. For the Watch Fit 5 Pro, Huawei sets a starting price of 299 euros. The model is available in orange, white, and black.
