A smartwatch that has not yet been officially unveiled is said to have been discovered on the seabed off a Caribbean island. The unusual find is currently attracting attention. Images allegedly show a Pixel Watch 5 from Google, even though the company has not announced such a model. How the watch ended up in the water is unclear. It also remains uncertain whether it is indeed the upcoming wearable.
Smartwatch Discovered off Caribbean Island
The story originates from a post by Randy Pitchford, co-founder of the company Gearbox. On the platform X, he reported that a friend found a Google smartwatch while diving near the Caribbean island of St. Martin.
According to Pitchford, upon examining the watch, it likely appeared to be the yet-to-be-released Pixel Watch 5. It’s not uncommon for tech devices to surface before their official launch. Occasionally, prototypes or pre-production models make their way to the public. What is unusual in this case is primarily the location of the find on the seabed.

Clues Pointing to a Pixel Watch 5
The photos published by Pitchford are receiving special attention. The back of the smartwatch shows the labels “Google” and “Pixel Watch 5.” Additionally, several features and sensors are listed there.
Among other things, there are indications of a sensor for measuring blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), a skin temperature sensor, as well as a heart rate and pulse sensor. UWB is also listed, which is a radio technology for communication with other devices.
The case also features the IP68 protection rating. For smartwatches, this generally means that rain, handwashing, or even brief immersion in water are not a problem.

Visually, the watch strongly resembles previous models of the Pixel Watch series. The round case matches the known design of the line. Overall, the device appears to be a nearly fully developed product.
Authenticity Not Yet Confirmed
Despite the published images, it remains open whether the watch is genuinely authentic. So far, the photos are not sufficient to conclusively prove its origin or authenticity.
Google has not commented on the find so far. Additionally, according to “Android Authority,” the unveiling of a new smartwatch shortly after the market launch of the Pixel Watch 4 in October 2025 seems unlikely.
It is also unknown when the smartwatch might have ended up in the sea and under what circumstances this occurred. According to Pitchford, the alleged owner has now even been located. A return of the device is planned. If the story is confirmed, the incident could be remembered as a particularly unusual product leak.
