Since last Friday, the new iPhones have been available for pre-order. Those who didn’t immediately click the “Buy” button now have to wait. Delivery times for the iPhone 17 Pro Max are particularly delayed. However, there’s a noticeable exception among the new devices.
Delivery Delays Mainly for iPhone 17 Pro Max
As in previous years, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is most affected by delivery bottlenecks. Shortly after pre-orders began, delivery dates were pushed significantly beyond the official sales start on September 19. Currently, Apple lists a delivery window for this model between October 8 and 15—a delay of about three weeks.
Other models are also affected. For the regular iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple currently lists a delivery window from September 30 to October 8. No iPhone 17 model is available at the official sales start (as of September 15, 1 p.m.):
- iPhone 17: September 30 – October 8
- iPhone 17 Pro: September 30 – October 8
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: October 8 – October 15
Apple Stores Also Have Limited Availability
In physical Apple Stores, the situation is mixed: While some versions of the iPhone 17 are expected to be available locally on September 19, customers will also face delays with the Pro models. Some locations list September 22 as the earliest possible availability date.
Whether Apple underestimated demand or supply chain issues are to blame remains unclear. TECHBOOK has asked Apple for clarification.

The availability of the iPhone Air suggests lower demand in Germany compared to the iPhone 17 models. However, it’s also possible that Apple prioritized the Air in production, allowing for quicker delivery.
Delivery Dates May Change
As in previous years, the displayed delivery times are not binding. On Reddit, some users are currently reporting that the delivery date changed from September 25 to September 19.
