Samsung might expand its Galaxy S27 series with a model that many observers likely didn’t expect. Several leaks are currently discussing a possible Galaxy S27 Edge. This would see Samsung revisiting a smartphone concept that had previously disappeared after a short time. Notably, the device is expected to be even thinner than the earlier Galaxy S25 Edge.
Leaks Contradict Each Other on Key Data
According to the leaker “kro_roe” on X, the Galaxy S27 Edge is expected to have a 5.8-inch display. At the same time, the casing could be just over 4 millimeters thick. The leaker mentions a battery capacity of 4,300 mAh.
However, not all rumors align. The X user “SPYGO19726” mentions a significantly larger 6.8-inch display. There are also discrepancies in the thickness, with claims that the smartphone measures 5.4 millimeters. The battery size of 4,300 mAh, however, is not questioned by the leaker. Which data will ultimately be accurate remains uncertain.
The Galaxy S25 Edge Fell Short of Expectations
The current speculations are particularly interesting because Samsung has already tried a similar concept. In May 2025, the Galaxy S25 Edge was released as a particularly slim variant within the Galaxy S series. Despite its 6.7-inch display, the smartphone was only 5.8 millimeters thick.
However, the thin casing brought disadvantages. The battery, with 3,900 mAh, was considered a weak point of the model. The smartphone also apparently failed to impress in sales. By the end of August, 1,310,000 units were sold. Reports from South Korea suggested that Samsung planned to cease production about five months after the market launch and only sell existing stock. Additionally, the development of a Galaxy S26 Edge was halted.

Samsung Would Need to Solve Several Problems
If the current rumors are confirmed, Samsung would face a challenging task. A smartphone with less than a 6-inch screen, around 4 millimeters in thickness, and a 4,300 mAh battery would be technically difficult to achieve.

Even the larger variant with 5.4 millimeters thickness would present challenges. Compared to the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung would need to fit an additional 400 mAh battery capacity into an even thinner casing.
Decision Could Be Made in Early 2027
When Samsung will present its new smartphone generation is already the subject of further speculation. Currently, the Galaxy S27 series is expected in February 2027.
The Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra are currently considered likely. If Samsung also releases a Galaxy S27 Edge, the series would consist of five models according to the current rumors.
