Smartphones are generally becoming more expensive, as recent price hikes by Apple show. Now, Samsung might also significantly raise the prices of its current top models, according to rumors.
Samsung might increase the prices for the Galaxy S26 series in its home market of South Korea. As reported by the business portal “Hans Economy,” a mobile carrier has reportedly already informed dealers about possible new sales prices. The adjustment could take effect on October 1.

According to the report, all models in the series would become 149,600 won more expensive. This is equivalent to approximately 96 euros. Samsung has not officially confirmed the information yet. The company stated that a possible price adjustment is currently being reviewed internally. A final decision has not been made.
These Models Would Be Affected
The price increase would be particularly noticeable for the Galaxy S26 with 256 gigabytes of storage. The price could rise from 1,254,000 won to 1,403,600 won. This would represent an increase of nearly twelve percent compared to the previous sales price.
The larger models would also be affected. For the Galaxy S26 Plus with 256 gigabytes of storage, 1,601,600 won would be due instead of 1,452,000 won. For the Galaxy S26 Ultra with 256 gigabytes of storage, the price could rise from 1,797,400 won to 1,947,000 won. Whether a possible increase will also affect other markets is not yet clear from the report.
Rising Costs Put Pressure on Manufacturers
Samsung would not be alone in such a move. Just recently, Apple also raised the prices of several older iPhone models significantly. Price increases are no longer limited to new device generations.
Among the reasons are higher costs for essential components. According to the report, processors and high-performance parts, in particular, are driving up production costs. These are needed by the company to execute AI functions directly on the smartphone. Memory chips are also more expensive than before. Additionally, an unfavorable exchange rate for Samsung is currently putting extra pressure on the company’s cost structure.
