New hints about the iPhone 18 Pro are sparking discussions. A recent leak provides specific details for the first time about the battery capacity of the upcoming Apple smartphone. It’s not just about the size of the energy storage. A potential change in the available model variants could also be significant for customers in Europe.
Battery Sizes Leaked
Apple traditionally does not comment on rumors before unveiling new devices. Nevertheless, months before an expected presentation in September, more and more information about the next iPhone generation is emerging.
According to the Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple plans to offer two different battery variants for the iPhone 18 Pro. The determining factor is the SIM technology used.
The leak suggests that the model with a traditional SIM card will have a battery with 4,056 milliamp hours. The version with eSIM is expected to have a battery with 4,288 milliamp hours. The difference is quite noticeable. Compared to the iPhone 17 Pro, the overall capacity is expected to grow only moderately, yet differences between the two versions will emerge.

Meanwhile, Digital Chat Station has found entries for the battery capacity in the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in the Chinese CCC certification database. Although the two models are not directly named in the database, the values match earlier leaks:
- iPhone 18 Pro (China): 4,065 mAh (68 mAh more than iPhone 17 Pro)
- iPhone 18 Pro (USA): 4,288 mAh (36 mAh more than iPhone 17 Pro)
- iPhone 18 Pro Max (China): 5,391 mAh (568 mAh more than iPhone 17 Pro Max)
- iPhone 18 Pro Max (USA): 5,567 mAh (479 mAh more than iPhone 17 Pro Max)

Europe Could Receive eSIM Models for the First Time
According to the leak, the planned availability of the devices is even more interesting than the pure battery values. Apple is reportedly planning to offer pure eSIM variants in Europe for the first time.
Until now, only models with a physical SIM card were available here. According to current information, these are expected to be equipped with the smaller battery. If Apple starts selling the eSIM versions in the European market, buyers here could benefit from the larger battery capacity for the first time.

Next-Generation Chip

TSMC is said to manufacture the processor using the 2-nanometer process. The leak suggests that the new chip generation promises significantly higher energy efficiency. Combined with the larger battery, this could lead to longer runtimes in everyday use.
