Tomorrow, Apple will officially unveil the new iPhone 17 series in Cupertino, California. Rumors about the upcoming models have been circulating for months–including the possibility of a thinner iPhone Air. A South Korean mobile carrier has now apparently leaked all the details about the devices.
On X (formerly Twitter), a leaker shared a datasheet allegedly from internal documents of a South Korean mobile carrier. The post is no longer accessible, but “Appleinsider” secured a copy of the photo.
The datasheet contains key points about the specifications of the iPhone 17 series. It not only lists the battery capacity for all four models but also details on RAM, cameras, and video resolution.
iPhone 17 Pro with 8K Video?
iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are expected to record videos in 8K resolution for the first time. Samsung was the first manufacturer to introduce this feature in 2020 with the Galaxy S20 and now allows 8K recording at up to 30 frames per second (fps). The advantage is a significantly more detailed image that remains sharp even when zoomed in. It is unclear how many frames per second the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max can film in high resolution. However, since the iPhone 16 Pro already allows 4K at 120 fps, 8K at 30 fps should not be a problem, as the data rate is the same.
Apart from video resolution, there is another innovation in the camera of the Pro models. Finally, the telephoto camera on the back also gets a 48-megapixel sensor–a fourfold increase over its predecessors. This should allow additional zoom levels, possibly up to 10x magnification at native 12-megapixel resolution.

iPhone 17 Pro Max to Feature the Most Powerful Battery Ever
More RAM for More AI
Like their predecessors, the iPhone 17 and 17 Air (replacing the previous Plus model) are expected to have 8 gigabytes of RAM. This is the minimum requirement for using Apple Intelligence. The 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, on the other hand, are expected to receive 12 GB of RAM, potentially supporting additional AI functions. The Pro models also use the Pro variant of Apple’s A19 chip, which is likely to come with additional GPU cores.
The leaked datasheet confirms earlier rumors that the iPhone 17 is expected to grow from a 6.1-inch to a 6.3-inch screen diagonal, bringing it in line with the iPhone 17 Pro. The iPhone 17 Air–the replacement for the Plus model–is expected to have a slightly smaller 6.6-inch display. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will remain at 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively.
Uncertainty About Battery Size
The datasheet also includes information about the battery capacity of the individual models. This is curious, as Apple typically does not officially disclose these values. However, the numbers mentioned seem at least plausible. The slightly larger iPhone 17 is expected to have a capacity of about 3,600 milliampere-hours (mAh)–a slight increase over its predecessor. The iPhone 17 Pro, on the other hand, could receive a significantly larger battery with 3,700 mAh. As indicated in previous leaks, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to make a significant leap to 5,000 mAh. At the lower end is the iPhone 17 Air, which, due to its slim design, does not offer much space for a high-performance battery. Leaks have been suggesting a capacity of 2,800 mAh for months, and the mobile carrier seems to agree.
However, just today, an alleged screenshot from the Chinese regulatory authority surfaced, shared by the well-known leaker ShrimpApplePro on X. It lists the battery capacity for the iPhone 17 Air as up to 3,149 mAh–significantly more than previously assumed. The document also shows higher values for the other models:
- iPhone 17: 3,692 mAh (PSMT4)
- iPhone 17 Air: 3,036 mAh (S2228), 3,149 mAh (2228A)
- iPhone 17 Pro: 3,988 mAh (S2225), 4,252 mAh (2226A)
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 4,823 mAh (NA295), 5,088 mAh (NA293)
The different values for various model numbers (in parentheses) suggest that certain models might have smaller batteries. While Apple is likely to rely exclusively on eSIM globally, iPhones in China still have physical SIM card slots. The smaller value probably refers to models sold in China, which have less space for the battery due to the slot.
Guesswork Among Smartphone Dealers
Whether mobile carriers or online shops–no one except Apple knows the iPhone datasheet in advance with absolute certainty. Dealers piece together the specifications just like we do from leaked information. This is likely the case in this current situation as well.
