Apple launches the new iPhone 17 series–including the all-new iPhone Air. The new smartphones can be pre-ordered starting September 12, with delivery a week later. TECHBOOK provides an overview of prices, innovations, and the further schedule.
Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 generation. In addition to the familiar variants iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the company surprises with a new model: the ultra-thin iPhone Air. Currently, reservations are only possible with network operators, which merely means preferred delivery.
Pre-order iPhone 17 starting September 12
Starting September 12, 2025, at exactly 2 p.m. Central European Time, the official pre-order phase for the new iPhone models begins. Buyers will have to wait until September 19 for shipping to start. Those who register with network operators now will be given priority in delivery–an actual pre-order is not possible before the deadline.

The biggest innovation in the lineup: The previous Plus model is replaced by the brand-new iPhone Air. It omits a number in its name and, at just 5.6 millimeters, is the thinnest iPhone yet. The titanium frame construction underscores its premium claim. At the same time, the slim format presents challenges–especially with the battery and camera. Whether Apple has managed to balance performance and endurance remains to be seen.

What the new iPhones offer
In addition to the new model, the existing devices have also been further developed. The iPhone 17 receives a ProMotion display with up to 120 hertz for the first time. For the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple uses an aluminum unibody, which not only saves weight but also improves heat dissipation. The cameras and the new A19 processor promise a significant performance boost. All models run on the new iOS 26, which features a revamped “Liquid Glass” design.
The pricing is as usual, depending on the model and storage capacity:
- iPhone 17: 949 euros (256 GB), 1199 euros (512 GB)
- iPhone Air: 1199 euros (256 GB), 1449 euros (512 GB), 1699 euros (1 TB)
- iPhone 17 Pro: 1299 euros (256 GB), 1549 euros (512 GB), 1799 euros (1 TB)
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 1449 euros (256 GB), 1699 euros (512 GB), 1949 euros (1 TB), 2449 euros (2 TB)
Alternative models still available
Those not dependent on the latest model can fall back on older versions like the iPhone 16 or iPhone 15. These are still considered powerful and are already significantly cheaper in retail.
