It’s not even certain whether Apple’s upcoming foldable smartphone will be called “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra.” Yet, the first accessory manufacturer has already released a suitable case for the device.
Nothing Left to the Imagination
The French blog site “iPhoneSoft” discovered cases for the iPhone Fold in various versions in the online shop of iFunSmart. Options include a clear, a black, and a model with an integrated stand. More importantly, the images in the shop show exactly what the brand-new iPhone is supposed to look like.
The back of the case features an elongated cutout for the camera plateau, reminiscent of the iPhone Air. However, the design template from iFunSmart shows two camera lenses. These are likely a main and an ultra-wide-angle camera. Based on previous leaks, Apple is forgoing a telephoto camera, which will continue to be available only in the Pro models.
The case design also confirms the wide passport format when closed, which, when opened, provides access to an iPad-mini-like inner display. The images on the iFunSmart site also show the positions of the control buttons. The lock button and camera control button are on the right edge of the device. The volume buttons, however, are placed above the display. In this regard, the iPhone Fold resembles an iPad more than other iPhone models. There is no cutout for the Action Button in the case.
Since the iPhone Fold consists of two halves connected by a hinge, the protective case also consists of two parts. Accessories for other foldable smartphones like the Galaxy Z Fold are already designed in the same way.
No MagSafe in iPhone Fold?
iFunSmart equips the cases with N52 magnets to ensure compatibility with accessories such as “car mounts, wireless chargers, and wallets.” However, it is unclear whether the iPhone Fold itself supports MagSafe.
The two housing halves are supposed to be 4.5 millimeters thick–more than 1 millimeter less than the iPhone Air. Whether Apple finds a way to integrate magnets into the housing despite the flat design remains open.

Why Accessories Are Available Already
The basic dimensions of an iPhone are usually set early in development. While details such as materials, logo position, or internal components may change later, factors like size, curves, distances, button dimensions, and the position of the camera, microphones, and LED generally remain stable.
Apple often provides these external dimensions to accessory manufacturers more than six months before the market launch. They need this information to adjust machines and production processes in time for new cases and other accessories.

This is precisely why early leaks about new iPhones often come from the accessory manufacturers’ environment. Even though Apple signs confidentiality agreements, not all parties adhere to them. For leakers, this data is particularly valuable: Based on the dimensions, renderings can be created that are often quite close to the final design.
iFunSmart is unlikely to remain the only provider offering cases for the iPhone Fold in advance. Even with the iPhone 17, accessory manufacturers flooded online shopping platforms like Amazon with numerous cases weeks before the official unveiling.
Features and Launch
Apple is expected to unveil the first foldable iPhone in fall 2026, along with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The device is expected to have a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display. When closed, it should be about 9.5 millimeters thick, and when opened, about 4.5 millimeters.
Also anticipated are an A20 Pro chip, 12 gigabytes of RAM, two 48-megapixel cameras, and Touch ID in the side button instead of Face ID. The price is expected to start at around $2,000.
