Since the beginning of the year, dummy units of the iPhone Fold have surfaced multiple times, already showing the size and format of Apple’s first foldable smartphone. However, a new leak is said to reveal the final dimensions of the device. Additionally, there’s a comparison to the iPhone 18 Pro models, also expected in fall 2026.
iPhone Fold in a New Form Factor
The images come from well-known leaker Sonny Dickson, who has often provided accurate information about unreleased iPhone models in the past–such as with the iPhone 17. The current dummy units are also based on the dimensions available to accessory manufacturers for product development. They offer early insights into the size and form factor of new devices before the official unveiling.
The iPhone Fold dummy suggests a compact casing with a display diagonal of 5.5 inches, similar in size to the iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini. When closed, the device is expected to be significantly shorter and slightly wider than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This design resembles a passport format and differs significantly from traditional smartphones. It is most comparable to the original Pixel Fold and the first models of the Oppo Find N series.

Unfolded Like an iPad Mini
When unfolded, the display reaches a diagonal of about 7.8 inches. At first glance, this seems only slightly more than the 6.9 inches of the current iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, due to the different aspect ratio, it results in a significantly larger usable area, more comparable to an iPad mini. Approximately 30 to 40 percent more display area than the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max is likely.
Unlike many Android devices with nearly square internal screens, the iPhone Fold comes in a widescreen format. This matches classic video formats like 16:9 and is better suited for displaying movies and series.
Thinnest iPhone Ever
The dummy model of the iPhone Fold comes with only a rudimentary hinge. In the finished device, Apple is expected to use a highly complex folding mechanism that largely eliminates the crease typical of foldables.

When unfolded, the device is expected to be less than five millimeters thick, even thinner than the iPhone Air. When folded, a thickness of about 9.5 millimeters is expected. This is slightly above current Pro models but remains within the usual range of modern smartphones.
