In mid-June, Tim Cook confirmed in an interview that Apple would be raising prices. The memory crisis is now affecting the tech giant, and the company can no longer absorb the additional costs. Now it’s known how much more fans will actually have to pay in the future.
MacBook and iPad users, in particular, need to brace themselves, as prices here are rising by up to 17 percent. Those planning to buy a new notebook or tablet should take a close look, as the new prices are not yet in effect everywhere.
MacBooks Are the Most Affected
The price adjustments affect numerous models in the current lineup. Prices are rising particularly sharply for MacBook Pro devices. The 14-inch model now costs 300 euros more in its most basic configuration. The 16-inch MacBook Pro sees an even higher increase of 400 euros, bringing the starting price to 3,399 euros.
The MacBook Air is also getting more expensive. For the 13-inch display version, Apple will now charge 1,399 euros instead of the previous 1,199 euros. The price for the 15-inch model and the more affordable MacBook Neo, however, increases by “only” 100 euros.
Tablets are not spared either. Depending on the model, the price increase can be up to 200 euros. According to the online magazine “WinFuture,” other products such as the HomePod, Apple TV, and the mixed-reality headset Vision Pro are also becoming more expensive. However, exact prices for these are not yet known.
What About the iPhone?
A look at Apple’s online store suggests that iPhones and Apple Watches are initially excluded. However, according to the online magazine “Golem,” calculations for the upcoming iPhone 18 look less promising. The device is expected to be up to 200 U.S. dollars more expensive in the U.S.
Those who act quickly can still avoid the new prices. While Apple has already adjusted the prices, other retailers are still selling the devices at the previous rates. This is usually because they still have inventory purchased before the increase.

The reason for the price increase, as with many other manufacturers, is the high demand for RAM and flash memory. Operators of large data centers, in particular, are buying large quantities of the necessary chips for applications related to artificial intelligence. This reduces the available supply while the prices for the components continue to rise. Besides Apple, HP, Samsung, and Microsoft are also affected.
