The science fiction series “Black Mirror” is known for its dark stories about future technologies. In Canada, you can now become part of such a story yourself. The series is being made into a virtual reality attraction there.
Fear of AI Shapes the New Experience
The fear of artificial intelligence is currently significant, and many experts consider it justified. The idea of AI spiraling out of control, in particular, causes unease among many people. “Black Mirror” has been tapping into this sentiment for years. The series by producer Charlie Brooker repeatedly showcases the dark sides of modern technologies. Now, this concept is being brought to life not just on television but as an experience in virtual reality.

Launch of the Black Mirror Experience in Montreal
Rights holder Banijay Entertainment has announced that “The Black Mirror Experience” will launch in Montreal, Canada. Starting May 21, 2026, up to six people can participate simultaneously. They wear an HTC Vive Focus 3 VR headset and move freely in a room. There, they enter the showroom of a fictional tech company. In this environment, they meet an AI-driven household robot named “LifeAgent,” designed to autonomously recognize needs and assist in daily life. According to Banijay Entertainment, the experience unfolds over approximately 60 minutes, increasingly spiraling out of control, as known from the series. However, the company does not provide specific details about the process.
Additional Locations and Open Questions
After the launch in Montreal, the offering is set to expand to other locations. However, a location in Germany is not planned for the time being. The VR experience is operated by Infinity Experiences, a company with several branches in Canada and the U.S. The “Black Mirror Experience” is produced by Banijay Live Studio in collaboration with the Spanish studio Univrse.
Whether series creator Charlie Brooker is involved remains unclear. He is not mentioned in the announcement. At the same time, it is evident that VR experiences based on popular series are becoming increasingly popular. Netflix has already implemented similar projects for “Stranger Things” and “Squid Game,” but is not involved with this project.
