Samsung’s current 2025 TV models have already launched with Tizen 9.0. Devices from the previous year are also receiving the update, which includes a range of welcome new features.

Samsung has started rolling out Tizen 9.0 for older TV models. Initially, devices from 2024 in Europe will receive the update, with more to follow.

Tizen 9.0 Brings Current Innovations to Last Year’s TVs

With the update to Tizen 9.0, Samsung introduces a refreshed design, improved menus, and enhanced security to more TV devices. Specifically, this is firmware version 21060.0, which originally launched with the 2025 models, as reported by “Tom’s Guide.” The update features an enlarged display and brings central elements like “Continue Watching,” pinned apps, and ad banners into focus, making the interface appear tidier and more focused overall.

Users can now customize the settings menu to their preferences. It can be adjusted in size and transparency, which is particularly useful during playback changes, as the ongoing image remains visible in the background. Tizen 9.0 also includes Samsung’s CryptCore, introduced at the end of 2024, setting “a new benchmark in TV security.”

Models in Europe Receive the Update First

Samsung offers a seven-year update guarantee for TV devices, similar to its Galaxy smartphones. Therefore, Tizen 9.0 will soon be available for older models. Currently, TVs from 2024 are the first to receive it—and initially only in Europe.

According to “Tom’s Guide,” the following models are currently receiving or will soon receive the update:

  • Samsung S95D OLED TV
  • Samsung S90D OLED TV
  • Samsung S85D OLED TV
  • Samsung QN900D 8K Mini-LED TV
  • Samsung QN800D 8K Mini-LED TV
  • Samsung QN95D Mini-LED TV
  • Samsung QN90D Mini-LED TV
  • Samsung QN85D Mini-LED TV
  • Samsung Q80D QLED TV
  • Samsung Q70D QLED TV
  • Samsung Q60D QLED TV
  • Samsung The Frame (2024)

How to Check if the Update Is Available

To check if Samsung has already provided the Tizen 9.0 update for your TV model, follow this path: Settings > All Settings > Support > Software Update. There, you can verify the availability of new versions and start the update directly if available.

If the device does not show a new version, it might be a model from before 2024. Samsung TVs from 2023 only received the Tizen 8.0 update in October 2024. Therefore, it may take some time before the current update is available for these devices.
