Google is making its first concrete hints about the market launch of its new smart speaker. The device was specifically developed for the Gemini AI and could be officially unveiled in just a few days.
Google Sends a Clear Signal
Since the announcement in fall 2025, it had been surprisingly quiet around the new Google Home Speaker. At that time, the company had announced a market launch for spring 2026, but there was little new information afterward. Speculation about when the product would actually appear was correspondingly high.
Now Google itself has provided the clearest hint yet about the upcoming launch. In a Reddit post, Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer for Google Home & Nest, wrote that those waiting for “a certain speaker” should keep an eye on their inbox next week. While the wording leaves room for interpretation, observers see it as a clear announcement of new information about the Home Speaker.

Launch and Sales Start Could Be Close Together
The statement from the Google executive aligns with earlier reports about a possible market launch at the end of June. Previously, June 25 had leaked as a potential date for the device’s introduction. Whether this marks the start of pre-sales, the official presentation, or even the delivery is not yet known.
Nevertheless, indications are mounting that the wait for interested parties will soon be over. Google has not yet officially commented on a specific date. However, the fact that a high-ranking product manager is now publicly referring to the coming week suggests that the market launch could be imminent.

Gemini Is Central to the Concept
Technically, Google positions the new Home Speaker primarily as an AI-centered smart home device. The speaker was specifically developed for use with Gemini, Google’s generative AI platform. Users are expected to benefit from more natural voice interactions and enhanced assistance features.
Additionally, Google promises 360-degree sound and the ability to use two speakers together with a Google TV streamer as a home theater system. In the U.S., the device is expected to be offered in four color variants at a price of $99. Information about the German market is not yet available. However, much suggests that the new Home Speaker will eventually replace the existing Nest speakers in Google’s portfolio.
