Deutsche Telekom is set to undergo several leadership changes in the coming months. The finance department, technology sector, and product business will be affected. The first transitions begin in October 2026, with the last announced personnel change taking place on May 1, 2027.
New CFO Starting May 2027
Chief Financial Officer Christian Illek will leave Deutsche Telekom at the end of April 2027 after the annual general meeting due to age. His successor is already determined: Dhananjay Mirchandani will take over the position on May 1, 2027.
The 51-year-old has been with Telekom since 2019. Since 2024, he has been responsible for corporate controlling. His duties include financial planning, liquidity management, and risk management.

Departure and New Developments in the Technology Sector
Illek worked for Deutsche Telekom for about 20 years, holding various leadership positions during that time. He was responsible for Germany marketing and the HR department, among other roles. Eight years ago, he took on the role of CFO. Most recently, he temporarily led the technology department.
The technology division is also set for a change. Jan Hofmeyr will take over the area on November 1, 2026. He succeeds Abdurazak Mudesir, who left the company in the spring at his own request. According to Telekom, Hofmeyr brings more than 30 years of experience in the technology business. Before his transition, he was Vice President at Amazon Web Services.
In the future, he is expected to more closely integrate the areas of networks, cloud, AI, and digital platforms at Telekom. CEO Tim Höttges particularly highlights Hofmeyr’s experience in the telecommunications industry and with large technology platforms.
Product Business Also Gets New Leadership
In addition to finance and technology, the product business will also be restructured. Mladen Mitic will take on the role of Chief Product & Digital Officer on October 1, 2026. The 49-year-old was most recently involved in Telekom’s European business, where he was responsible for growth with private customers. Mitic will start his new role one month before Hofmeyr and will report to him in the future.

Mitic succeeds Jonathan Abrahamson, who is leaving Deutsche Telekom at his own request. With the several announced personnel decisions, the company is restructuring key areas of its leadership. Supervisory Board Chairman Frank Appel describes the changes as an “orderly transition to the next generation of the board.”
