A new major streaming service always sparks interest among film and series fans. And with HBO Max launching in this country on January 13 of this year, featuring hits like “Game of Thrones” or the “Harry Potter” series, the offering will only get stronger in the future–enough reason to take a closer look. Those interested can first test HBO Max, but currently only through Amazon. But why?
Curious–HBO Max only available for testing on Amazon
Currently, those visiting the HBO Max website can choose from various subscription plans. These include options for HBO alone or bundled with RTL+, as well as different quality levels. However, a free trial period, as offered by some competitors, is missing. Those who do not want to commit financially right away seem to have no other option.
Unless you have an Amazon Prime subscription. Not only does this provide access to Prime Video and its own streaming service, but customers can also book additional channels, which include competitor platforms like HBO Max. Here, a trial period is available. Interested parties can test HBO Max for seven days on Amazon.

Testing HBO Max with Limitations
Afterward, the trial plan automatically converts to a regular subscription for 5.99 euros per month. This is the cheaper of two options called “Basic with Ads.” This subscription offers Full HD resolution and the ability to stream on two devices simultaneously.
Then there’s the “Standard” subscription for 11.99 euros, which additionally grants 30 downloads. For the same price, HBO directly also includes RTL+. These bundles are generally not available on Amazon. The premium subscription with 4K resolution, Dolby Atmos, 100 downloads, and four simultaneous streams is also missing. However, those who can settle for the simpler options could easily combine HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video in one place.
Not the Only Streaming Test on Amazon
Streaming fans can test not only HBO Max on Amazon Prime. There is also no visible indication of a trial phase on the respective homepages for Wow and RTL+. However, as Amazon add-on channels, trial phases are also possible, and for seven days as well.

Other streaming services with free trial periods on Amazon include Apple TV and Paramount+. However, these are not exclusive trial phases. They are also offered on the respective portals themselves. Netflix, Disney+, or Joyn+ are not available as extra channels on Prime Video. For them, separate paid subscriptions are unavoidable.
