In 2022, former U.S. President Donald Trump launched an alternative social media platform called Truth Social. Accompanying it is a streaming service, Truth+, which is now available in Germany.
The battle for interpretive dominance in various social and political topics is fiercely fought online, increasingly dividing society. The different camps tirelessly accuse each other of lies, propaganda, or censorship, each claiming the truth for themselves. In this heated debate climate, Truth Social launched in early 2022, a platform significantly associated with U.S. President Donald Trump. Recently, the streaming service Truth+ has also become available in Germany.
Truth+ Launched in German
As reported by sources such as “Digital Fernsehen,” Truth+ is now available in German-speaking regions, a year after its launch in the U.S. The app is available for both Android and iOS in the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. In the long term, users of Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, as well as LG and Samsung TVs, will also be able to use Truth+.
Thematically, the content on Truth+ is intended to align with the public presence that Truth Social, as a social media platform, aims to amplify. The app description mentions “news you can trust” and “entertainment that Big Media wanted to blacklist.” According to “GlobalNewsWire,” it will include content focused on Christian and family-friendly themes.

Using Truth+ requires prior registration. However, those who already have a login for Truth Social can use their credentials for the new service.

What Users Can Expect
While the Truth+ platform is still relatively new, the app description already hints at the content direction, aligning with its social media counterpart. Back then, Donald Trump responded with his own social network after being banned from Facebook and Twitter (now X) due to the storming of the U.S. Capitol by his supporters and his problematic reaction to it.
At the time, the former and current U.S. president accused platforms like Twitter of not allowing free speech and aimed to provide it to all users with Truth Social. However, whether it truly adheres to the truth has been widely questioned. In 2024, for instance, the “Los Angeles Times” wrote that “madness and misinformation” were largely spread without resistance on Truth Social.
This is attributed to the fact that, apart from Trump supporters, hardly anyone else uses the platform. “Der Standard” noted that the environment there, besides many falsehoods, primarily exudes a mood of anger. “Reactionaries” indulge in their “hatred of liberals,” it says. Since Truth+ is linked to Truth Social, the content is likely to follow the same Republican direction. Interested parties should be aware of what they are getting into.
