UEFA has reallocated the TV rights starting in 2027, causing some significant surprises. Among others, Paramount+ is now entering the major soccer arena.
UEFA has reallocated the TV rights for the 2027/28 to 2030/31 seasons. The streaming services Paramount+ and Amazon have been awarded the rights. According to reports from “BILD” (like TECHBOOK, part of Axel Springer) and the British “Times,” Paramount+ will broadcast the top game on Tuesday as well as all other games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Amazon Prime Video retains the top game on Wednesday evening.
It is therefore worthwhile to consider a Paramount+ subscription in the future, but Netflix will also be involved in soccer. Sky offers a complete package that allows fans to book both platforms. Additionally, they benefit from the rest of the Sky offerings:
Amazon’s Statement on the New Rights Allocation
Amazon was the first provider to confirm the new Champions League rights in a statement. In a press release, Alex Green, Managing Director of Prime Video Sport, International, stated:
“This is a significant moment for our service and fantastic news for our Prime members in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Italy, for whom we have secured the biggest games in European soccer until 2031. The combination of top matches and Prime’s large audience reach delivers record Champions League viewership across Europe, and we will continue to raise the bar in our coverage. The new four-year contract gives us long-term security and allows us to innovate even more for the benefit of fans, such as introducing Prime Vision this season.”

Paramount+ to Show Champions League Final, DAZN Loses Out
Contrary to earlier reports, the Champions League final will not be on Netflix but will also be available on Paramount+. If a German team reaches the final, the game will still be shown on free-to-air television. Which broadcaster will handle this is currently unclear.
While DAZN loses the rights to the Champions League, it will take over the broadcasts of the Europa League and the Conference League. These rights remain with RTL until 2027, after which DAZN will exclusively show all games of these competitions.
Current Broadcasting Rights Until 2027
Until the 2026/27 season, the broadcasting rights remain unchanged. Amazon Prime Video continues to show the top game on Tuesday. DAZN broadcasts all other matches. The final will be aired for free on ZDF.
