Apple is renaming its streaming service from Apple TV+ to Apple TV and increasing prices by 30 percent. This renaming could lead to confusion, as Apple TV is also the name of the streaming box. Apple is following an industry trend but is sticking with its ad-free subscription model. A possible new streaming box is anticipated. It remains to be seen how these changes will affect users.
Apple has decided to operate its streaming service under the name Apple TV, dropping the Plus from the name. This information was part of a press release about the film “F1: The Movie” starring Brad Pitt. Apple spoke of a “new, dynamic identity” but did not elaborate on what this specifically means.
Confusion Due to Name Change
The renaming of Apple TV+ to Apple TV could lead to confusion among some users. The name is identical to Apple’s well-known streaming box, which streams content from the internet to TVs. Whether a change or a new product is also in the works remains to be seen.

Shortly before the recent name change, Apple also increased the prices of its streaming service in the U.S. The monthly price rose from $9.99 to $12.99. This represents an increase of about 30 percent. How this will affect the German market remains unclear.
No Subscription with Ads
Unlike some of its competitors such as Netflix or Disney+, Apple still does not offer subscription models with ads. These models are cheaper but include ads before or during the content.
It remains to be seen whether Apple will eventually jump on the ad-rate bandwagon. Currently, the focus seems to be on a clear and ad-free user experience, which sets Apple apart from many other providers.
