Since 2003, for more than 20 years, the investigators in “NCIS” have provided thrilling entertainment, including on German television. Many actors from the series became truly famous through it, and its success continues. This is also evidenced by several spin-offs that tell new stories in the same universe. Now fans can look forward to a special announcement: As it is now making the rounds, Mark Harmon will return to the brand.
Mark Harmon Returns as Gibbs
Mark Harmon is undoubtedly one of the biggest “NCIS” stars. He appeared in 19 seasons of the crime series before temporarily stepping away in 2021. Aside from a few small guest appearances, he has not been in the role since. Now he is planning his big comeback, as reported by the U.S. industry magazine “Variety.” However, not in the main series, where he remains retired.
Instead, Harmon will be seen again as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in “NCIS: Origins.” The spin-off is soon entering its third season and tells of Gibbs’ early days at Camp Pendleton. Harmon is already heard as the narrator of every single episode. But now he is set to visibly appear throughout the entire season.
What “NCIS: Origins” Season 3 Is About
In terms of content, the present-day Gibbs will have to deal with a mystery connected to his past and his time at Camp Pendleton. CBS promises that this part of the series will unfold over the entire season and be “full of action.” An Instagram post also states that it involves the story Gibbs “never told.”

There is currently no specific start date for “NCIS: Origins” Season 3. In Germany, the series is available on Joyn. It is therefore expected that the next round will also appear there. Incidentally, Mark Harmon also serves as one of the executive producers along with his son Sean.
