After eleven films, the “Fast & Furious” universe is set to expand significantly. A new live-action series has now officially received the green light.
“Fast & Furious” is one of the most successful action franchises of the past decades. Since the first film’s release in 2001, the series has grown to eleven films and grossed more than $7 billion worldwide. Now, the next expansion is on the horizon: The streaming service Peacock has ordered a live-action series for the brand.
The development of a series adaptation was already announced in May 2026. At that time, actor Vin Diesel revealed at an NBCUniversal event that several projects from the “Fast & Furious” universe were planned. With the series order now in place, these plans have become a concrete project for the first time.
Familiar Names Behind the Project
Several long-standing figures from the film series remain involved in the series adaptation. Vin Diesel will take on a role as executive producer. Additionally, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Chris Morgan, and Jeff Kirschenbaum are part of the production team.
As reported by the industry platform “Deadline,” the pilot episode and creative direction come from Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman. Both serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. While Daniels previously worked on “Sons of Anarchy” and “Shades of Blue,” Coleman was involved with “9-1-1: Lone Star.” Specific details about the plot are not yet available. It is also unclear whether familiar characters from the films will play a central role in the series.
Launch Likely in 2028
As it stands, Peacock is aiming for a series launch in 2028. This timing would coincide with “Fast Forever,” the next and likely final film of the main series. The series could thus play a crucial role in continuing the franchise beyond the films.

For NBCUniversal, the brand remains of great importance. The film series celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2026 and continues to be one of the studio’s most important action franchises. According to “Deadline,” the new series is part of a larger strategy to expand the “Fast & Furious” universe and tell additional stories.
