The reason for this is surprisingly brief. The re-release contains only four additional minutes. Yet, this new material seems to be enough for many fans to see the film again on the big screen. This once again demonstrates Marvel’s enduring appeal in its film universe.

In addition to personal messages from Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, the new version includes extra scenes that hint at the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Particularly interesting is the altered ending: A new key scene extends the original finale and is intended to create a direct link to upcoming events in the MCU.
