For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, FIFA is partnering with YouTube. The video platform is set to serve as the preferred platform for content related to the tournament.
The partnership aims to make it easier for fans worldwide to access tournament content. FIFA’s media partners will have the opportunity to publish more World Cup material on YouTube. This includes longer highlight videos, shorts, background reports, and on-demand content. The official YouTube blog states that this will create new ways to follow the tournament beyond traditional TV broadcasts. Additionally, FIFA plans to provide archival material through the platform.
First Minutes of Play on YouTube
The cooperation also plays a role in the games themselves. According to FIFA, media partners will be allowed to show the first ten minutes of each match live on their own YouTube channels.
Furthermore, rights holders, according to FIFA, can also stream some selected matches in full on their YouTube channels. The 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19. The tournament hosts are the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. A total of 48 teams will participate, with 104 games planned.
More Content Around the Games
Another aspect of the collaboration is that YouTubers will gain access to FIFA content. This allows them to create videos with tactical analyses, reactions, and impressions around the games, both before and after the matches.
The approach is primarily aimed at a younger audience. Many fans no longer follow major sporting events exclusively through traditional broadcasts but also through content on video platforms.
