A quick glance at your smartphone is often enough to check what’s happening at home. Many people use surveillance cameras for this purpose, keeping an eye on entryways, living spaces, or pets. Apple might soon offer its own product in this area. New information suggests that the company’s plans are already relatively advanced.
Market Launch Likely Planned for 2027
According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a home surveillance camera. The device could hit the market in 2027. There are no official statements from the company yet. However, the report indicates that Apple sees home surveillance as a new business field.
Technically, the planned device is expected to differ from many conventional models. According to the report, the camera will not only record video images. Instead, artificial intelligence will be able to recognize what is happening in its surroundings. At the same time, Apple is expected to prioritize privacy protection. The specific features the camera will offer are not yet known.

What New Devices Does Apple Have in the Works?
Apple Is No Newcomer to Cameras
The topic is not entirely new for Apple. With HomeKit Secure Video, the company already supports surveillance cameras from other manufacturers. These can be integrated into Apple’s smart home system. Recordings can be stored end-to-end encrypted in iCloud and viewed on the go. An iCloud+ subscription is required for this.

According to Bloomberg, Apple does not plan to offer the camera as a standalone product. Additionally, a new service is expected to be developed, allowing users to monitor and secure their homes. The features of this service remain unknown. There is also no information yet on potential costs or a required subscription.
Part of Larger Smart Home Plans
The camera seems to be just one component of broader initiatives. As early as the end of 2024, there were reports about a proprietary display that could control lamps, cameras, and other devices in the house. At that time, there was also talk of an Apple surveillance camera.
Additionally, Apple is reportedly working on a small table robot designed as a digital companion for the home. An in-house security camera would add another element to these smart home plans.
