AliExpress, Temu, and Shein have found a business model that resonates with consumers: ordering cheap goods directly from China—without a middleman and without a markup. Amazon also wants to tap into the growing market and has introduced “Haul.” The new bargain portal is still in the testing phase but is now finally available to users as a web version in the browser.

Haul Prominently Featured on Amazon Page

In the U.S., Haul has been available since the end of 2024, and only for a few months in European countries. In Germany, the portal was initially only available in the Amazon app and not accessible to all users. This changes with the introduction of the web version. Although it remains in beta, it is already accessible to all Amazon users during the test phase.

Anyone opening the Amazon page will now find a new “Amazon Haul” tab prominently placed in the navigation bar. Clicking it opens the new shop directly on the Amazon page, offering categories such as “Super Cheap,” “Women,” “Electronics,” “DIY,” and “Sports.” The first category provides an overview of the cheapest offers across all categories. According to the FAQ, all Haul items cost under 20 euros, with shipping set at a flat rate of 3.50 euros. Orders over 20 euros even qualify for free shipping.

Special Features When Ordering Through Amazon Haul

Delivery times with Haul are significantly longer than what Amazon customers are used to. According to their own information, “most purchases […] are delivered within two weeks.” This is because the goods do not come from Germany but directly from the country of origin.

This also means that customers act as importers themselves. Amazon therefore lists them “for customs purposes” as such. Customs clearance is carried out in the customer’s name. However, this does not affect the price, as Amazon takes responsibility for customs clearance and the payment of import VAT.

Aside from that, Haul products cannot be combined with items from the main Amazon shop; instead, there are separate shopping carts. Prime shipping benefits (such as free shipping) cannot be applied to these orders. Exchanges are also excluded. However, customers can return items within 15 days of receipt. The extended 30-day period that Amazon offers for some items in the main shop does not apply here.
