Whether in private or professional contexts, like the author of these lines: Emojis have become indispensable in digital everyday communication, and their numbers are regularly increasing. Now there’s a selection of new icons set to debut in 2027.
These Are the New Emojis for 2027
The main entity responsible for releasing new emojis in 2027 is the so-called Unicode Consortium, which develops Unicode. This is a global standard intended to ensure that digital texts can be used in all major writing systems.

As part of this work, they also ensure the distribution of emojis, which will be expanded next year to include the following: vulture, eyes looking right, orchid, decorated bottle, and Inukshuk, a stone figure from Inuit culture. This is according to a statement from the Unicode Consortium.
Final Changes Still Possible
According to an assessment by “Emojipedia” (a member of the Unicode Consortium), the above designs are not yet the final versions. Changes can still occur before the release. Additionally, it ultimately depends on how platform operators like Apple or Samsung choose to display them.
Furthermore, the selection is not set in stone. By 2027, more emojis could be added, or some from the current list could be replaced. However, the former has been very rare in recent years. The current selection of five new emojis for 2027 represents the smallest update so far–the previous low was eight new chat graphics in 2024.

If all goes well, vulture, eyes looking right, and others will be approved as new emojis by the Unicode Consortium in September 2027. After that, it may still take some time before they are finally available on your device. Until then, there will be several rounds of review before the selection is finalized.
