Xiaomi is apparently preparing for the international launch of its new Redmi Note 17 series. Certifications from Thailand and Taiwan provide clues. Several models have appeared there, explicitly intended for the global market. In addition to the Redmi Note 17 and the Redmi Note 17 Pro, a largely unknown model has also surfaced.
New Pro Max Model Comes into Focus
As reported by the online magazine “Notebookcheck,” the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G is particularly intriguing. The smartphone was registered in Thailand under the model number “2609FRA74G.” The “G” at the end is considered a clear indication of an international version. Industry experts also believe that the number combination “2609” suggests a possible market launch in September 2026.
This strengthens the indications that Xiaomi will soon offer its new entry-level series outside of China. However, the manufacturer has not yet announced an official date.
International Model with Large Battery
The certification documents also reveal that the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G could be released worldwide with a 7,700 mAh battery. This would be one of the largest energy storage units in this device class, promising particularly long runtimes.
However, the international version does not quite match the Chinese version. There, the smartphone is expected to be equipped with an 8,000 mAh battery. Such differences between markets are not uncommon for Xiaomi.

More Storage and Expansion via microSD
The Taiwanese documents also provide further details. According to them, Xiaomi plans several storage options for the global version. Buyers will be able to choose between variants with 8 or 12 GB of RAM. Apparently, 256 and 512 GB of internal storage will be available.
Those who need even more space will be able to expand the storage by up to 2 TB via a microSD card. This is now a rarity and is likely to please users who store many photos, videos, or offline content.

This Equipment is Likely
The technical specifications for the global market have not yet been officially confirmed. However, the already available China version provides a good preview. There, Xiaomi relies on a 7-inch OLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, a 50-megapixel main camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera.
Whether this equipment will be adopted unchanged remains to be seen. However, the current certifications suggest that the international models will not be long in coming.
