In the mobile phone and smartphone sector, there have been various trends, and currently, the aim is to give consumers as little to hold as possible—literally. The iPhone Air, for example, is the thinnest yet, and Samsung also presented the particularly slim Galaxy S25 Edge. However, it seems that in South Korea, they are thinning out their own portfolio again. According to insiders, the Galaxy Edge has to go.

New Galaxy Edge Series Already History

In May 2025, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S25 Edge, the flattest device in the S series to date. TECHBOOK editor-in-chief Rita Deutschbrein was able to hold it at an event and was impressed by its slim design. But as thin as the casing may be, according to a report on “Sammobile,” the sales figures were just as thin.

According to insider sources, the South Korean manufacturer is now pulling the plug. For the S26 series planned for next year, the Galaxy Edge will not return. Instead, there will only be the standard and Ultra variants, along with the Plus model. Thus, fans can expect a new Galaxy S26+.

S26 Edge Was Apparently Already Planned

Until recently, the Galaxy S26 Edge was reportedly in active development alongside the other three variants. Those interested in an especially thin smartphone will have to turn to the competition for now. Whether Samsung will make another attempt in this segment in the future is currently uncertain, but not entirely out of the question.

There are already some early, partly sensational rumors circulating about the Galaxy S26. For instance, there are images suggesting a radical design change for the upcoming generation. The S26 Ultra is also expected to look different than before. However, for my colleague Adrian Mühlroth, these are steps in the wrong direction.
