It’s a common part of every smartphone’s lifecycle that the manufacturer gradually limits support with important updates and eventually stops it altogether. After all, new and better models are released annually, requiring attention, and maintaining all devices ever released consumes too many resources. Now, Samsung is also gradually reducing support for the Galaxy S21 FE.
Samsung Downgrades Galaxy S21 FE Support
This is now reported by “Sammobile.” The South Korean company recently began rolling out the October security update and, in doing so, downgraded the Galaxy S21 FE for future support.
In plain terms, this means that instead of the monthly software updates typical for newer devices, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will now only receive updates every three months. However, critical security vulnerabilities are excluded from this schedule. If such a vulnerability arises, the model will continue to receive immediate measures and fixes outside the regular schedule.
Galaxy S21 FE Receives Last System Update
Alongside the now reduced support for the Galaxy S21 FE, Samsung is expected to soon bring Android 16 to the device. This will be the last major system update the S21 FE receives. It is speculated that this could happen by the end of October. Owners will miss out on Android 17 or later versions.
For S21 FE users, this is a good time to consider switching to a newer device, as it will receive more frequent security updates. The latest model series is the Galaxy S25, which will represent a significant performance leap forward for all those who switch from the S21 FE.
