A recent software update for Google’s Pixel devices is causing significant issues for some users. The Pixel 10 is particularly affected, experiencing system crashes after the March update is installed.
According to the online magazine “Android Police,” the problem is increasingly being reported in forums and on platforms like Reddit. Users consistently report that the screen simply freezes and no longer displays new content. Particularly critical is that even important functions are affected. Incoming calls and messages are sometimes neither displayed nor processed. In this state, the smartphone reacts as if it does not perceive these events.
In many cases, only a direct action can make the device usable again. Users must hold the power button for several seconds to trigger a hard restart. While there are isolated reports that devices recover on their own after a long time, this appears to be the exception. Generally, the smartphone remains non-functional without manual intervention.

Error also affects other Pixel models
Not only the Pixel 10 is affected by the problem. Older devices, including models from the Pixel 7 to the Pixel 9, also occasionally experience similar issues after the update. An official statement from Google is still pending. To avoid crashes, users can temporarily disable the Always-on Display in the Android settings.
