The iPhone Duo is new territory for Apple. For its first foldable, the company offers a range of accessories. However, not all of them seem well thought out. The iPhone Duo Case, for example, consists of two parts and protects both the display and the glass back. The problem: On the front, the case covers part of the screen. With iOS 27.1, a new option is introduced to reduce the display size.
Feature for Covered Display Edges
The option is called “Shift Left Edge.” It slightly shifts the display to the right, leaving a narrow black edge on the left side. This keeps content fully visible, but it also reduces the usable display area.
When attaching the official iPhone Duo Case, a notification automatically appears on the screen, leading directly to the relevant setting. However, the feature can also be activated independently of Apple’s accessories. This makes it usable for cases from other manufacturers, provided they cover part of the display.

How to Enable the Option
The setting is located in the “Display & Brightness” section of the system settings. There, “Shift Left Edge” can be turned on and then confirmed in the displayed dialog.
After activation, the device indicates that a restart is required. However, this is not a full reboot. After a brief black screen, the iPhone Duo automatically returns to the previously opened settings page.
These Official Cases Are Offered by Apple
For the iPhone Duo, Apple currently sells two protective cases. The iPhone Duo Case costs 89 euros and automatically triggers the “Shift Left Edge” prompt when attached. If the option is not activated, the case covers a narrow strip of the display.

Additionally, there is the iPhone Duo Folio with a stand. This model does not restrict the view of the outer display. Instead, the folio must be folded to the side to access the outer screen.
