The iPhone keyboard was once considered a prime example of flawless on-screen typing. The intelligent autocorrect helped avoid errors and made typing significantly faster. However, in recent years, the keyboard in iOS seems to be getting worse. Often, even after several attempts, it seems impossible to hit the right key, and typos go uncorrected in messages. Now, Apple is finally addressing this with the update to iOS 26.4.
Errors with Fast Typing
Since iOS 18, more and more users have noticed input problems with the iPhone keyboard. Since iOS 26, it seems so widespread that a YouTube video titled “It’s Not Just You–The iOS Keyboard is Broken” has garnered more than 1.5 million views. The clip shows in slow motion how the keyboard recognizes an input and even highlights the correct letter, but ultimately types the wrong one.
On Reddit, there are numerous posts on the topic. The consensus: The typing experience on the iPhone keyboard is getting worse. Users not only show examples of how the keyboard recognizes inputs but fails to adopt them. This either results in misspelled words appearing in the text field or the autocorrect inserting an inappropriate word that doesn’t match the intended input. Additionally, the integrated vocabulary often no longer correctly recognizes the context and suggests only unsuitable corrections.
