With Android 17, Google has released the latest version of its operating system for Pixel smartphones. However, for some users, the update apparently brings not only new features. Instead, complaints about issues with the touch display are increasing. Affected users report that inputs are not recognized as expected or the screen responds only with a delay.
Accordingly, the problems occur mainly with Pixel smartphones from the seventh to the tenth generation. Users share their experiences on platforms such as Reddit. It is still unclear whether the Pixel 6 series is truly unaffected by the issue or if users are simply reporting such problems less frequently.
Touch Inputs Behave Differently
The reported errors vary. Some users say the display sometimes does not respond to touches at all. Others mention a significant delay in inputs. Additionally, the system sometimes recognizes vertical swipe gestures in the opposite direction.
According to the reports so far, the anomalies are not limited to individual applications. They appear both on the user interface and within apps. The problem seems to occur regardless of the application being used.

As a temporary measure, Google recommends clearing the cache of the Pixel Launcher. According to feedback from affected users, however, this step does not help in every case. The success prospects of the interim solution are described as varying.
Hope for Quick Bug Fix
If the Pixel Launcher is indeed responsible for the touch issues, Google could fix the bug with an update to the launcher. This would be distributed via the Play Store. Until then, affected users will have to make do with the recommended interim solution, which, according to current reports, is not reliably effective.
