After Google sent out invitations for the Made-by-Google event 2025 in mid-July, the Pixel 10 launch is now officially confirmed. On August 20, the company will unveil its new smartphones and accessories.

Apparently, Google has had enough of the numerous leaks that showed the Pixel 10 in advance. Just on Monday, “Android Headlines” allegedly presented official CAD renderings of the upcoming smartphone. On the same day, the company released a short teaser video on its store page.

Google Confirms Rumors About Pixel 10

What immediately stands out when watching the short clip is the larger glass cover on the camera bar at the back. This makes the Pixel 10 look particularly similar to the Pixel 9 Pro–for a simple reason. The new smartphone gets an additional camera. Until now, only the Pro model had three sensors in the bar, but now the standard Pixel follows suit. Here is the clip from the Google store page:

We suspect that the additional camera is a telephoto lens, complementing the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses. For its high-end smartphones, Google has relied on such a setup since the Pixel 6 Pro. With the extra camera, Google likely aims to better differentiate the device from the more affordable Pixel 9a (and the upcoming Pixel 10a). However, rumors suggest that the additional camera comes at the expense of the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras. Due to space constraints, Google is apparently using the smaller sensors from the Pixel 9a.

Otherwise, the Pixel 10 hardly differs externally from the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. However, the color shown in the video is new. The gray-blue hue stands out significantly from the previous, darker hazel tone in the Pixel 9 Pro.

It’s not new for Google to preempt its own product launches with teaser videos. Last year, the company released a short clip on X (formerly Twitter) in July, showing the Pixel 9 Pro, which was not officially presented until August.

Pixel 10 Gets New Chip With More Power

Even though there are hardly any external changes apart from the additional camera, some new features are expected under the hood. The Pixel 10 series comes with Google’s new Tensor G5 chip, which, according to leaked benchmarks, offers a significant performance boost over the Tensor G4. The chip is also expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 3-nanometer process and consume less power.
