According to current information, the launch of Apple’s new foldable iPhone is expected to be limited. Apple is set to unveil the device in September, but initially, it will only be available in the U.S. Other markets may follow later.
Indications of a Limited Market Launch
The information comes from the Australian tech portal “ChannelNews.” It cites a major Chinese component supplier, Australian mobile carriers, and a large retailer.
Accordingly, Apple plans to release only limited quantities for the U.S. at launch. Key markets such as China might be supplied at a later date. Germany would also not be included in the initial market launch. Apple has not officially confirmed the device or a staggered sales launch.

Production and Component Issues
The report cites production problems as the reason for the cautious launch. Tests have shown that the hinge and the foldable display are causing more difficulties than expected. Additionally, there are component shortages and high costs. Mass production was initially set to begin in June 2026 but was then postponed to the end of July.
This deadline is also reportedly not being met. In July, contract manufacturer Foxconn adjusted its plans. Only about seven million devices are planned for the second half of the year. With this quantity, not all countries could be supplied at the sales launch.

Previous Apple Launches with Delays
A staggered sales launch would not be new for Apple. The iPhone X was unveiled in September 2017 but did not hit the market until early November.
The Vision Pro also initially launched in just one market. The headset was available in the U.S. from February 2024. Sales in Germany followed in July.
Apple might take a similar approach with the foldable iPhone. According to the report, Australia might have to wait up to three months longer. The source does not specify a timeline for Germany.
