In September, the big iPhone event is set to take place, where three new models are expected to be unveiled. Three more will follow next spring. None of this has been confirmed yet; the details are based on leaks and insider information. However, the current beta of iOS 27 has revealed the codenames for six new iPhone models, shedding light on Apple’s plans.
Hints of Six New iPhone Models
Earlier this week, Apple released iOS 27 Beta 5, bringing the operating system one step closer to the iPhone launch in September. “Macworld” found files in the system code that point to six new iPhone models. These files are related to battery drivers and intelligent battery management.
While the models are not explicitly named, some of the codenames have appeared in previous leaks, linking them to the actual models. A prime example is the foldable smartphone iPhone Ultra, which has been in development as V68 since 2025. Here is the complete list:
- V62: iPhone Air 2
- V63: iPhone 18 Pro
- V64: iPhone 18 Pro Max
- V67: iPhone 18
- V68: iPhone Ultra
- V69: iPhone 18e

What New Devices Does Apple Have in the Works?
Apple Must Prepare iOS
This is the first time all six devices of the iPhone 18 series have appeared together in Apple’s iOS code. It is not surprising that the hints are found in files related to battery management. After all, Apple must prepare iOS for different batteries, energy-saving functions, and hardware configurations before the market launch of new devices.
iOS 27 Beta 4 already contained a hint of an iPhone with a foldable display, as it mentioned multiple batteries. Foldable smartphones often have two batteries distributed across the two halves of the casing. Previously, entries for “Fold Status” and “Angle Degree” were also found in the iOS code, which clearly suggest a foldable screen.

First Half of 2026, Second Half of 2027
Unlike before, Apple will not unveil the new iPhone generation all at once at the traditional September event this year. In the fall, only the premium models will be launched, namely: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra.
The other models, however, will not be released until early 2027–the same period when the iPhone 16e and iPhone 17e were launched. New this time is that the base model iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2 will be released alongside the iPhone 18e.
