With the current beta version of iOS 26.1, Apple introduces new settings for the so-called Liquid Glass design. Users can now decide how transparent the user interface should appear. Additionally, the camera function on the lock screen has been revised to prevent accidental launches.
Reactions to Apple’s new design concept are mixed. While some users appreciate the glassy, translucent look, others find it distracting. In iOS 26.1 Beta 4, a new option is now available under Display and Brightness, allowing users to adjust the transparency of Liquid Glass.
Two Options
The new setting is straightforward: Users can choose between “Transparent” and “Tinted.” In transparent mode, the familiar appearance remains, with content slightly visible behind the glass. The “Tinted” option significantly reduces visibility and increases contrast. This change affects all areas of the system—from the user interface to apps that adopt the Liquid Glass design. Whether Apple will introduce finer adjustments, such as a slider, remains to be seen.

Improvements for the Camera
According to “Heise,” a new setting is also expected to prevent accidental camera launches. In the iOS settings, users can now specify whether swiping to open the camera on the lock screen should be active. Many users had previously complained about the camera unintentionally starting when unlocking. With the new option, this behavior can be adjusted. However, long-pressing the camera button to start remains possible.
