Anyone chatting with WhatsApp risks someone else secretly reading along. To prevent this, users of the messaging service can use a hidden feature to disguise any chat on WhatsApp.
Archive Feature Makes Chats Disappear from the List
Every conversation can be archived, meaning it no longer appears under “Chats.” On Android, you archive a chat by long-pressing the desired chat under “Chats” and then selecting “Archive” from the menu. This trick also works on the iPhone. In “Chats,” simply swipe the respective chat to the left and tap “Archive” to make the chat no longer visible.

Make Chat Visible Again
Once the chat is hidden, it’s not so easy to find it again. For Android users, archived messages are located at the bottom in the “Chats” section. Tap on “Archived Chats” to select the conversation you want to display again. Then, you just need to tap the unarchive icon, and the chat history will be displayed normally again.
On iOS, it’s a bit different. There, users find the archived chats at the top above the search field. Select “Archived Chats” and tap “Undo,” and the hidden chat will be displayed again.
Hide All Chats
If you want, you can also hide all chats at once. To do this, go to the WhatsApp settings. Under “Chats,” you will find the menu item “Chat History.” Here, select “Archive All Chats.”
